Windows has the ability to perform much faster and it runs many services (programs) that are not actually needed for day to day use so my builds have been tweaked for the best possible performance.

My basic system/starter who would like to play online games:

Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 nForce 570 SLi PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard, Intel Core 2 Duo E2180, 1 Gig ddr2 ram, DVD RW burner, 8800gt Graphics card, 2 Hard Drives, onboard 7.1 sound, digital freeview tv card. 17" flat panel LCD monitor, Microsoft Wireless multimedia keyboard and mouse.

This system has great upgrade ability and you can add a 2nd graphics card to let you play your games at even higher quality (recomended for battlefield 2, halflife 2, FEAR etc)

Higher end pcs would be with Quad Core cpus and 4+ gigabyte of  low latency ram and Radeon 8800 GT+ and these may be overclocked to bring out extra performance that is available with this type of hardware.  Also i would recomend getting latest 20" fast response lcd flat panel monitor for detailed high resolution images & amazing game play.

Have a look at this site for new game releases/reviews and free demos: Fileshack  Signing up is a painless process with no spam etc.

My best selling pc build at the moment is the media center pc.  Media Center pc's differ slightly by having considerably more hard drive storage space,  a higher spec sound card and a remote control for armchair access to all your media.  Also if your main tv is lcd/plasma you are half way to having access to all your music and dvd's at the press of a button on the media center remote control.  Watch HD movies (up to 1080p if your tv supports it).  My media center pc's have all the software you will need to transfer all your current dvd's and cd's to hard drive.  So no more spending ages looking through cd cases for the correct cd/dvd.  If you live in a Digital Freeview covered area you will be able to watch/pause and record freeview television.

Click the link below for a demo explaining what  media center software will do for you.

I have been building high spec pc systems for several years now. I build them using the latest components and i can sell them for considerably less than high street stores. If your looking a pc that is ready to go which will have all the software that you will need to browse the web, download music, copy, burn cd/dvds, edit pictures and make your own movies and even create your own website. The fact is when you buy a pc from most chain stores the majority of software that is bundled with the pc is not yet installed or is trial software that will ask you to pay/subscribe for updates etc. Then there is the pressure to buy an extra warranty or extra care which will not cover you if the damage has been caused by software/viruses you have downloaded from the internet. The majority of store bought pc's have limited upgrade ability.

You can download free fully functional Firewall and antivirus software, popup blocker from the web so why pay for it.
